Set up 2FA for added security

Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added security on your Mercury Iconex crypto account is quick and easy and is recommended by us.

There are several Two-Factor Authentication applications.

For this step-by-step guide for beginners, we will be setting up Google Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

Log In to Your Account:
- Go to our website and click on "Start Exchanging" and select Login on our exchange.

If you have not yet created an online account, we recommend doing so.
Check out our Knowledge Base article "How to Start or Open an Account" for the necessary steps.

- Log in with your registered username and password.

Navigate to Security Settings:
- Look for the "Security" section on your Mercury Iconex account. - Click here to view the security options.

Look for the Two-factor Authentication (2FA) Option:
- Look for the 2FA option, often referred to as "Two-Factor Authentication", "2FA" or "Two-Step Verification".

Choose Google Authenticator as the Authentication Method:
- Click "Enable 2FA" to start the process.
- Select and download the "Google Authenticator" application on your smartphone via the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) if not already downloaded.
- Then click "Continue" to start the security process.

Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator:
- Open the downloaded Google Authenticator application on your smartphone.
- Tap the + option to add a new account and select "Scan a barcode" or "Scan a QR code".
- Use the application to scan the QR barcode that is displayed on your screen.

- If you are unable to scan the QR code, you can manually enter the provided secret key into the Google Authenticator app.

Enter the Verification Code:
- The Google Authenticator app will now generate a time-limited one-time code (TOTP), depending on your application settings.
- Enter this code in the "Enter your 2FA seed" to confirm the link.
- Click "Verify" to complete the 2FA setup.

Keep the Backup Codes Safe:
- The Google application can provide you with backup codes in case you lose access to your Google Authenticator app.
- Keep these codes in a safe place, such as a physical safe or a secure digital storage.

Confirm the 2FA Setup:
- After entering the correct code and confirming the link, you will receive a message from Mercury Iconex in your email inbox that 2FA has been successfully enabled. - Your account is now extra secure with the Google Authenticator application.

Extra Tips:

- Recovery Options: Write down the recovery codes in a safe place. These are essential if you lose your phone or the application is no longer accessible. In case of loss, please contact our Support team so we can disconnect your account from 2FA.
- Regular Checks: Regularly review your security settings and ensure that your contact details and recovery options are up to date.
- Use 2FA for All Accounts: Consider enabling 2FA for all your important online accounts for extra security.

By following these steps, you can easily set up Google Two-Factor Authentication on your Mercury Iconex cryptocurrency account and significantly improve the security of your account.
