Is a Past for Sale or Are You Investing in the Future
The past, whether personal or collective, is very rich in valuable history, of which knowledge about that past is a 'treasure' to be invented and skill is the way we deal with it.
Then a certain maturity is required to apply skill, so that that treasure of the past (= knowledge) is communicated without defects to the next generation and thus, the knowledge is not lost to the youth. And that transfer involves a certain degree of insight, an objective view and a clear and uncorrupted vision. 'Knowledge and Skill' are therefore from this approach, not self-evident aspects.
Knowledge, is therefore directly proportional to the magnitude of time, of which time is relatively in proportion to your geographical location and all events that manifest themselves at that moment within that sphere or space-time. This means that every individual within that sphere, undergoes the same experiences, but because of our own values and standards, everyone will form a different vision or opinion about the same event. It is these different visions, whether or not under the same circumstances, that will shape our landscape, structure and world and create a paradigm. In short, the art is to convert the knowledge of the past into skills for the future, or in other words, To know where you are heading, you need to know where you are coming from. In my opinion, a wise statement, given that there is nothing new under the sun. Innovations, trends, movements, hypes and developments always repeat themselves with a certain regularity and consistency. This cycle of events, in which patterns occur, usually escapes us, due to the fact that we see the aspect of space-time (= past - present - future) as a linear event and we try to solve our problems from that linear approach. But nothing could be further from the truth, as Einstein proved with his theory of relativity.
Within Suriname it is also no public secret that always around a certain time or cycle, political and/or public figures make many promises and populist statements shortly before (the) elections of their (national) organization, in order to convince society or their peer group respectively why they are the chosen ones to get their hands on the gavel. So every time it is the same old song around elections, by using old habits and customs that do not offer room for change and renewal. By warning about the opposing party and arousing fear. Presenting party programs that offer little to no pragmatic solution, with the outcome always the same results (recurring corruption, crazy devaluation, not prosperous middle class), because of a strictly conservative nature and attitude. In a progressive time like ours, where change is a constant variable, the same fixed results can be disastrous, in fact, 'old habits do not produce new results!'. An iron rule that cannot be bent, with hand or mind!
We are globally in the midst of a social (=Politics & Religion), economic (=digital money such as Bitcoin & Ethereum) and technological (=Blockchain, Robots, Supercomputers, Artificial Intelligence) transition
However, we as a community are the ones who can bend, because we, especially the young people, are sold 'broken dreams' like dry old warm bread from the past. And a light 'yorka supu' is presented to us to get that old and rigid bread smoothly down our throats, no matter how suffocating it is. A ritual that we Surinamese, unfortunately, enjoy every day. Because of these 'old and broken' dreams, the entire society remains unconsciously stuck in a yoke of time, which prevents progress and prosperity for most. You then wonder how they always manage to sell us such a 'nightmare' that only gives us sleepless nights. Are they pulling the wool over our eyes to keep us in an artificial sleep state and keep us from reality or do they have a magic wand to impose their power on us to influence our perception?
To my knowledge, the answer lies in the fact that during or after a certain cycle (e.g. 6-9 years) the composition of the population is completely different. Which makes that the old habits are experienced as new by this young, fresh and inexperienced 'virgin group'. It is therefore understandable in my opinion why certain guests do not want to give up their position of power, because after a certain period of time they can then knead and shape some young, 'inexperienced' souls, their thoughts and characters. In short, what you learn young, you do when you are old, right? And that is how those rituals are maintained! If this is the way to apply skills for a bit of knowledge transfer and to educate our young people, then we are completely missing the mark. Because the goal of a leader is, among other things, to equip the followers with the necessary tools and insights to remedy every "handicap" in order to subsequently be able to face all challenges and trials. So that at a certain point they can think for themselves and make their own material and immaterial choices, in order to also promote a bit of entrepreneurship and maturity. That is a change of food that will produce different results and I assume we are all in favor of that. But if I believe that everything will return in a different guise or its original form and in the meantime the bill has already been presented with crisis and chaos, when will there be a good moment again and how do we take action for the right choice, so that the reaction that comes back can produce a completely different result?
That answer lies entirely with ourselves and is furthermore in the fact that with pure thoughts and the right intentions every moment is a good moment for clear choices. The result of that choice, however, will depend entirely on the time and energy that you put into the process. And time can be expressed in discipline, patience, trust, hope and policy. And as soon as we can muster hope and trust, (self)discipline becomes a simple task and we gain patience to persevere. The aspect of time then disappears into the background and the process of mapping out policy becomes a pleasure to then achieve an immense result above expectations. Can we as Surinamese not make our path to prosperity and well-being such a pleasant and bearable experience? Can we not bridge our reforms or transformation process in the sense of making the wait worthwhile? After all, it is only possible if we learn to look and listen to ourselves, look around us carefully at what is happening and make ourselves less dependent on 'powers' that are in charge or on guard. Better yet, take care of our own business!
We have been plagued by the 'ghosts' of less purchasing power, devaluation and inflation since before the reforms. Our sense of well-being has melted like snow in the sun. People are looking for ways to protect their families from these 'ghosts' that haunt our sense of well-being into the deepest and darkest night. Globally speaking, we are in the midst of a social (=Politics & Religion), economic (=digital money such as Bitcoin & Ethereum) and technological (=Blockchain, Robots, Supercomputers, Artificial Intelligence) revolution and/or transition. One that involves extreme forms of reform, coupled with liberal or progressive renewal movements, in order to experience a change of diet, in response to a conservative nature or attitude.
The platonic composition of those aspects will shift in such a way that resistance, friction and frustration are not excluded. We see that friction for example in distorted connections, broken relationships and strange and inexplicable situations. So do not let yourself be distracted and misled, by old 'sales tricks' and empty warnings with a reference from that past in order to shift your focus for investments for the future, with the result of depriving the future of the next generation. Because it is a generation that differs from all previous ones and believes in their own creative power and their own possibilities to achieve what they want to achieve. Older people have in a sense failed to apply their skills in guidance and education to the millennials, because in our modern times the internet has taken the place and the catch-up of education. Often enough the internet even has a closer connection and broader bond with this generation. The internet and the digital world is therefore the great 'educator'. We have therefore reached a crucial point where (on) building will have to be done to help the youth of today, to ensure their future of tomorrow, so that everything may progress. So always invest in your future and in all possibilities or means that you believe in, that will help contribute to this. We can learn from each other, but we must first grant and accept each other.
